Hi! Casey here.
I'm a web developer, game designer, systems programmer, and occasional pixel artist.
I love figuring out how stuff works, then making fun things of my own!!
Here's my resume if you want to check it out.
I also like watching anime hit me up if you wanna talk anime
BEACH QUEEN is a Choose Your Own Adventure-style mini-RPG made in Unity.
Level up, compete against other anthropomorphic beach-goers, and win the title of BEACH QUEEN!!
There are 3 characters to choose from (Strong Lobster, Lucky Duck, and Attractive Palm Tree), random events that boost your stats, and formidable rivals, like Pufferfish With A Cowboy Hat and Yoked Beach Towel!!
BEACH QUEEN is my first foray into the itch.io Game Jam scene. It was made in about a week using Unity and the Yarn Spinner dialogue engine.
I submitted BEACH QUEEN to the second "I Can't Draw But Want To Make A Game" Jam.
It was a really fun exercise in learning a new engine and see how far I could stretch it!
I look forward to participating in more jams in the future :)
(Personal note: one of my musician friends called the tune "catchy," and as someone with very little musical experience, this was a huge compliment and I loved it)
"Hey!! Thanks for checking out Casey's portfolio, and our super fun game!!!
Hope you enjoy :)))) <3333"
"YO! STRONG LOBSTER'S THE BEST! PLAY AS ME!!!
Though... that palm tree is disarmingly striking...."
*sweats*
"Hey there, friend ;)
Be sure to play as me and help me win Beach Queen, ok? ;)
;)"
Determined Dialogue is an Undertale-style dialogue system created in Unity.
Determined Dialogue was my first attempt at creating a Unity package for others to use. It comes complete with a functioning plugin, installation instructions, and usage documentation.
Features include:
"Howdy! I'm Potato Cowboy, the first art Casey ever did on the online pixel art app, Piskel!
Sure am pleased to meet ya!"
ShowdownInLittleTokyo.com is a brutalist 90's-style fansite for the best action movie on this (or any other) planet.
So there's this movie from 1991 called Showdown in Little Tokyo. It's a buddy cop flick starring Brandon Lee (The Crow) and Dolph Lundgren (DRAGOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! from Rocky IV).
Besides The Princess Bride, it's my favorite movie of all time.
Much like FinalFantasyIX.com, I searched a domain name registrar, saw it was available, snapped it up, and made a fansite.
Since the movie was from '91, I wanted to make the site as "Early Internet" as possible - garish fonts, lots of "marquee" tags (which I think are totally deprecated now??), even a guestbook and a visitor counter at the bottom of the page.
It's a basic little HTML/CSS bad boy that I had a blast creating.
(Also, do yourself a favor and go watch SILT. It's only 79 minutes long, and you will NOT regret it.)
FinalFantasyIX.com is a fanblog about the best video game on this (or any other) planet. Made in Wordpress until 2024, when I switched it over to a Jamstack implementation.
I was cruising domain name registrars in 2013 when I searched for "FinalFantasyIX" (my favorite game) on a lark.
It was available, and I snapped it up immediately.
It was my first time diving into Wordpress (and into the Jamstack!), and it got me started talking about games I love.
I'm a self-motivated jack-of-all-trades. I love learning, I love creating, and I LOVE making weird, cute games and websites.
"I'm just a simple alien with a love of earmuffs, but Casey works hard and is pretty cool! You should say hi to him!! (and maybe talk anime with him he keeps talking to me but i don't know anything about it please help)"
